SimpliSafe vs. Ring Alarm Security System — What’s Different?

Ring Alarm

Smart Home Integration – When it comes to smart home integration, Simplisafe does a pretty good job of connecting to a wide range of products even when supporting a WiFi connection only.

Its compatibility includes Apple Watch, Nest Thermostat, & the August Smart Lock, while Ring Alarm supports Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, GE, Leviton, First Alert, and of course all the Ring products.

Technology – Both Simplisafe and Ring Alarm Security systems use different technology in order to communicate.

While SimpliSafe solely uses a WiFi connection, Ring has the advantage of being able to connect with WiFi as well as with Z-Wave and Zigbee devices and uses a Bluetooth connection for its setup.

Voice Control – While both SimpliSafe and Ring connect with Alexa’s voice commands, SimpliSafe takes it a step further and also offers integration with Google Assistant.

Internet Connection – In terms of the internet connection, SimpliSafe connects directly to your home WiFi network, so you aren’t required to use an Ethernet cable.

While you can do so for Ring as well, you also have the option of using an Ethernet cable in order to take advantage of a more reliable and powerful internet connection.

Subscription – With SimpliSafe you can opt for two different subscription plans, the Standard, for $15 per month, or Interactive Plan, for $24.90 monthly.

With the Standard plan, you can take advantage of the 24/7 live alarm monitoring, cellular backups, and environmental monitoring, while the Interactive option includes
mobile alerts, secret alerts that inform you about activity without tripping the alarm, video alarm verification that will record any detected activity.

Whereas Ring only offers 24/7 professional monitoring for just $10/month.

Disarm Options – The SimpliSafe security system also includes multiple disarming options such as a key fob, app, keychain remote, & keypad for more flexibility.
While with Ring, you can disable your security system either through the app or using the keypad.

Panic Button – Both models offer the panic button feature for emergency situations, with SimpliSafe having the edge with its ‘’silent panic’’ addition, making it ideal for business and retail owners.

Design – There are a few differences when it comes to design, with SimpliSafe offering two color options of both White and Black tones, and Ring Alarm coming only in a single White finish.

Sensors – With both security systems you have the option of mixing and matching the sensors to suit your preferences.

While both offer smoke, water and carbon monoxide sensors, SimpliSafe offers two other unique sensors which are, Temperature, and Glassbreak which Ring lacks.
