Arlo Pro vs. Arlo Pro 2 — What’s Different?
Field of View – Arlo Pro 2 features an improved 130° field of view, compared to Pro’s 110°. This, in turn, gives Pro 2 a bigger advantage when it comes to surveillance and could even help you to identify a potential culprit.
Video Quality – Additionally, Arlo Pro 2 also comes with a higher video resolution of 1080p HD, compared to Arlo Pro’s 720p.
Thus giving Pro 2 more of an edge when it comes to the quality of your footage.
Activity Zones – Arlo Pro 2 includes the activity zones technology, which allows you to specify which area you’d like the smart camera to focus on such as the front door or garage, and get notified whenever there’s any suspicious activity caught via the app.
Additionally, you can also create up to 3 of the specific zones for a better sense of security, while Arlo Pro doesn’t include this type of technology.
It’s also worth to note that in order to take advantage of this feature Arlo Pro 2 requires to be plugged into a continuous source of power.
Continuous Video Recording (CVR) – The new Arlo Pro 2 camera also offers the CVR function when plugged in for a continuous stream of footage, handy for when you’re away for longer periods of time.
Unfortunately, Arlo Pro doesn’t include this type of technology.
3-Second Lookback – With Arlo Pro 2 you have the power to see a motion before it even occurs with the 3-second lookback feature.
While Arlo Pro will only start capturing the motion from the very first frame the motion shows up in its field of view, which could potentially cause you to miss out on any important details.
Keep in mind that similarly to CVR, and motion zone setting feature, Arlo Pro 2 needs to be plugged in order to take advantage of the 3-second lookback feature.
