Akaso Brave 6 vs. 6 Plus — Differences Explained

Differences #1: MicroSD Card – If you want to take the maximum from your video shooting from the Brave 6 Plus, it is recommended to use the U-III rating microSD card. The Brave 6, on the other hand, is compatible with either Class 10 or UHS-I rating microSD cards.

Differences #2: Video Resolution – The Brave 6 is capable of 4K 24fps maximum whereas the Brave 6 Plus can record at 4K 30FPS. Plus the Brave 6 has 1080P 60FPS chosen by default and the Plus model has 4K 30FPS as a default setting. So don’t forget to change the pres settings on the Brave 6 is you want to get the best video quality possible.

Differences #3: Gyroscope – Both cameras have gyroscope which results in smoother footage, expecially in activities like cycling, motorcycling, and handheld usage. The Brave 6 Plus uses a better gyroscope, 6-axis vs. Brave 6’s 3-axis.

So, you’ll get a smoother footage with the Brave 6 Plus.

Differences #4: Slow Motion Movie – Unlike the Brave 6, the Brave 6 Plus model features a slow motion movie. Make sure to choose high frames per second ratio to get the most of it.

Differences #5: Photo: Resolution – While both cameras are capable of 20MP photos, the defaults are different for the two cameras. The Brave 6 is set to 16MP by default, whereas the Brave 6 Plus is set to 20MP. 

Differences #6: Photo: Delay Timer – With the Brave 6 Plus you have plenty of time to prepare for a perfect photo with its 30-second delay timer. The Brave 6 model offers 10 seconds delay maximum, so chop-chop.

Differences #7: External Microphone – If you’re looking to use an external mic, then Brave 6 Plus is the one to go with. Although, heads up, the Brave 6 Plus is only compatible with this specific Akaso external microphone. You won’t be able to use third party mic on this camera.

Differences #8: Angle – Both cameras offer a pretty wide field of view starting from 170° which you can adjust accordingly. With the Brave 6 you can choose from four different angles (170° / 140° / 110° / 70°) whereas the Brave 6 Plus only allows three (170° / 120° / 70°). Nothing bad, just different.

Differences #9: Zoom – The Brave 6 allows for 6x digital zoom, whereas the Brave 6 Plus offers 8x digital zoom. So if you’re looking to zoom in on something, then the Brave 6 Plus is your best bet.

Differences #10: Touch Screen – While both cameras have screens, only the Brave 6 Plus features a touch screen. With the Brave 6 you’ll need to use actual buttons to switch between modes, etc. 

Differences #11: Battery – Both cameras come with two batteries, but Brave 6 Plus features better batteries than the the Akaso Brave 6, 1050mAh vs. 1350mAh. This difference results in better battery life, the Brave 6 Plus can last up to 180 minutes at 720p whereas the Brave 6’s expected life is 60 to 90 minutes of continous video shooting.

Differences #12: Motion Detection – This handy feature is unique to the Brave 6 model. Whenever there’s motion detected, it’ll trigger the camera to start recording.

Unfortunately, the Brave 6 Plus doesn’t have this feature.

Differences #13: Ports – The Brave 6 uses a Micro USB for charging whereas the Brave 6 Plus uses USB-C. It might not be a huge difference, however we know it’s important for some of you. 

Differences #14: Waterproof – You can take Akaso Brave 6 underwater in a housing up to 98ft (30m), which i pretty good, but the Brave 6 Plus can perform better. With the Plus model you can dive as deep as 131ft (40m) and record fantastic underwater world. Just make sure you use the waterproof case whichever camera you decide to use.
